Your question has me thinking deeply about what 4-7-year-old Darius was all about. I remember he was a very reflective and imaginative thinker, even at a young age. He loved listening to music and almost felt as if he were travelling to another dimension. That's really cool, b/c that's what 43-year-old Darius is always doing as well. I meditate, go deep, come back, and create with what I discover. Thanks for reconnecting me to that, Diane.
I could totally see that you are still in sync with that magical child! And a big shout out to you, D, for planting the creative idea seed for this post!
I love this so much! Especially your joyful photos! And, it got me thinking: what did I love as a kid? Reading and writing, poetry, being in nature and with animals, connecting with people, and riding my bike. Thank you for this inspiration!
Hi Diane, as a young person I was a dreamy child. I loved being outside, in nature, and exploring music. I still love accessing my imagination and dreaming up wonderful things. I feel the power of music to heal myself and connect to others.
Wow Glee - knowing a little of who you are, it seems you are still living in the way your authentic young Self knew you to be! I feel that power of music too - to heal ourselves & others and to connect to others (including the Nature beings!). Thanks for sharing Glee
And what if you cannot remember what you did at those ages...not clearly. I'm amazed by people who have details from that time in their life.
I feel upset trying to remember. Heartsick, or perhaps soul-sick, homesick?
I loved cats. I loved drawing and colouring and gluing stuff on. Being outside. Collecting rocks and shells. Dancing and reading. I was very shy.
I think I am supposed to write, but I don't remember doing that. It came later.
Now...I have a cat, love being outside, collect crystals and shells. I am happy alone or with a book. Miss dancing, and have forgotten drawing and colouring.
Playing outside, running outside, and laying outside were high up on my list. I hardly remember much else about being outside, I think I went to another place when I was there. I also played with my grandparents typewriter. I really liked playing games with others where I could be competitive and win 😂
Jigsaw puzzles, play (especially outside), cross country skiing (got my first skis in first grade), singing, reading. Thanks for the inspiration 💗💫🙏⚡️🌟✨💞
Diane loved the question. Thanks for sharing who you are. I used to think that my childhood joys and challenges made up who I was in my career.
Now that I am retired I still feel tugs for dog care, making maple syrup, singing and organizing. I have found joy now in playing Ukele. Cooking with maple syrup and hoping to foster a dog my lucy dog died two years ago. Love how these thoughts fill me with energy.
Your comment is so true Carol - just thinking of these things is energizing - thanks for reminding me of that. You also reminded me of how much I always loved organizing - sometimes things we do so naturally are just taken for granted. And now I want to know more about you and Maple Syrup!
What a marvelous soul nourishing story this is. The wisdom of inner listening! 13 Thank yous. Hearing wonderful things about your intuitive class from a pal.
My younger self used to dress as a priest and married my younger brother and a neighbor girl several times. I was a tomboy who played in the woods and did complex paint by number paintings at 6 and 7. As an adult teaching art in the public school my lessons were far less rigid and prescriptive. (I am still teaching and doing spiritual ceremony)
Joy - you just made me laugh out loud as I imagine you dressed as a priest marrying the neighborhood kids! And....I know and feel your spiritual leadership, guidance and wisdom still rippling out today. I'm with you playing in the woods...
First, I love the yard bow in your hair. My mother would try to put those on me and I would have none of it. Second, my younger self loved to play sports and ride my bike and I'm in my happy place when I do that today (and try to do it often :)
I just learned something new - I never knew it was called a yard bow! And I totally see your younger self alive and zesty - riding your bike and playing sports today!

Perhaps it is time to find some crayons?
Oh....cats, crystals, shells and colouring....And Dancing....I see your beautiful fairy-wisdom spirit loving all this Ann!

Oh I can totally see you playing with the typewriter! But the competitive streak took me by surprise - love your authenticity Sam!
Haha I tend not to reveal the competitor too often. Not something girls/women get praised for!
How true is that…you are already shifting the paradigm by naming it!
Oooo love that energy. Thanks for the reminder. You're such a gem 💎

Oooh - jigsaw puzzles and cross country skiing - all of it makes me smile - You must be a great skier starting that early!

Beautiful and so accurate!
How fun to see you here on Substack Joyce - Just seeing your name here brings me back to my younger self!
